Merchandise:
Yarn:  Jacksonville has needed a local, dedicated yarn store that gives knitters and crocheters a wide selection of unique, high quality fibers in a wide selection of colors. These are the yarns we are carrying but the list is growing:  https://www.rivercityyarnandfiber.com/yarns-we-carry

Tools:  Crocheters, knitters, and other yarn makers will find a broad assortment of needles, hooks, scissors, and accessories. One of our core values is to help guests grow their skills and learn new techniques, and we have all the supplies to support you.

Books:  We have how-to books, pattern books, niche areas like amigurumi, sweaters, hats/scarves, and on and on. There are even a couple of books on making garments for your dogs! There’s a nonfiction section where you can learn about the history of fiber work as well as essays by knitters, spinners, dyers, etc.

Gifts:  We are so excited to be a resource not only for guests to find great gifts for friends and loved ones but also a place where your friends and loved ones can find perfect gifts for you. We carry tote bags, tool bags, kits, greeting cards, luxury tools and other items, as well as gift cards.

Education:  We believe that fiber arts soothe the soul and connect us to our ancestors, our communities, and ourselves. A primary goal is to turn the fiber curious into novice makers, and to grow makers’ skillsets and imaginations through workshops and classes. We are building the workshop and class schedule right now and are excited to offer a huge range of opportunities to learn. We are looking for teachers to help us build a full schedule of classes and workshops on crochet, knitting, and other fiber arts. Let us know if you want to teach a class.

Meetups:  Jacksonville has an active community of fiber makers that meet all around town in shops, restaurants, and public spaces. To the extent that we can accommodate these groups, the store is happy to host them. Once we have a schedule of meeting times for groups, you can gather with like-minded creators.

Children:  River City Yarn & Fiber is dedicated to the idea that creativity is a resource that thrives when it is encouraged and supported early and often. We have a kids center where children can color, do puzzles, read, and play. From toddlers to teens, there are toys, games, books and kits for imaginative creativity. Note to caregivers: store policy requires you to mind your children; unattended children will be given espresso and a kitten.

Summer and after school offerings:  We will be offering afterschool, summer, and holiday enrichment sessions. Stay tuned as we build our schedule and find the very best instructors.

Community Service:  Yarn stores have so many resources to support non-profits that help others. We have a donation bin for folks to go through their stash and move unused yarn to a good purpose. We also plan to set up programs to allow seniors, refugees, and people with disabilities to bring their creativity and talents to life.

That’s a lot of information! We’ll post this page on our website so new friends can get a sense of all River City Yarn & Fiber has to offer as we grow. Again, thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm. We depend on all of you to get the word out and to push us to be excellent in every way. And if your contact form indicated that you would like to volunteer or teach a class, I’ll be reaching out to you separately to learn more about your specific interests.

With so much love!
